Keene, New Hampshire is a charming, historic town that boasts a vibrant downtown area filled with quaint shops and restaurants. One such gem is The Pub, Keene’ oldest family restaurant, which was founded by Mike Blastos in 1969. This cozy eatery has been a beloved institution in Keene for over five decades, and is known for its friendly staff, cozy atmosphere, and delicious food.

The Pub is still run by Mike’s family, who continue to maintain the high standards of quality and service, at very reasonable prices, that have made The Pub a local favorite in the Monadnock Region.

Walking into The Pub, you are immediately struck by its cozy and welcoming atmosphere. The decor is classic and unassuming, with local artwork decorating the walls and comfortable seating that makes you feel right at home. It’s the kind of place where you can come in for breakfast or lunch and feel like you’re part of the family.

The Pub serves breakfast and lunch, and both menus are full of classic Italian, Greek and American dishes that are sure to satisfy any appetite. Breakfast offerings include classic dishes like eggs benedict, pancakes, and French toast, as well as heartier options like steak and eggs and corned beef hash.

The lunch menu features sandwiches, salads, and wraps, as well as daily specials that change depending on what’s in season and available.  From traditional pasta dishes like spaghetti and meatballs to hearty burgers and sandwiches, there’s something for everyone on the menu. The portions are generous, the flavors are bold, and the prices are extremely reasonable.

On my recent visit to The Pub, I decided to try the classic meatball sub. The hefty sandwich was packed with homemade meatballs, marinara sauce, and melted mozzarella cheese, all served on a toasted roll. The meatballs were very flavorful, and the sauce had just the right amount of sweetness which combined nicely with the slight spiciness of the meatballs for a palate-pleasing combination. The sandwich came with a side of crispy fries which can be substituted with a generous portion of onion rings.

One thing that really stood out to me during my visit was the friendly staff. The servers were warm and welcoming, and they knew many of the customers by name. This created a cozy and familiar atmosphere that made me feel right at home.

The Pub is located on Ralston Street in Keene.  It is a must-visit for anyone looking for a cozy and welcoming restaurant with great food and service.  Its history and tradition add to its charm, and the friendly staff and family atmosphere make it a local favorite. The Pub is a warm and welcoming restaurant that will keep you coming back time and time again.  We highly recommend The Pub as a “New Hampshire Best” located in the heart of Keene.
